Boston University School of Medicine’s Alzheimer’s Disease Center

Our forward-looking approach to developing treatment programs for Alzheimer’s care led Senior Living Residences (SLR) to a formal affiliation with Boston University School of Medicine’s Alzheimer’s Disease Center (BU ADC), whose mission is to be on the cutting edge of research, clinical care and education related to memory loss.

This unique affiliation brings state-of-the-art treatments for the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease and related cognitive impairments from the clinical research setting to our Compass Memory Support communities.

Our Affiliation Offers Your Loved One Access to the Premier Alzheimer’s Research Professionals in our Area:

  • In an effort to provide top notch care and avoid hospitalizations of our residents, a clinician from the BU ADC conducts “Grand Rounds” via conference calls with our Compass Memory Support Program Directors to develop plans to reduce behaviors that may otherwise lead to a hospitalization. SLR residents can also be referred out to BU ADC clinicians who provide complete clinical evaluations of seniors with mild cognitive impairments or Alzheimer’s disease, as well as treatment and continued support.

  • BU ADC clinicians and faculty provide continuing education and in-service professional training for SLR’s management and caregiving staff. BU physicians also share their research and clinical findings with SLR to support our innovative programming efforts.

  • Seminars and lectures by BU ADC are available to educate family members about memory loss, dementia, prevention, treatment and caregiving.

  • SLR residents gain easy access to the BU ADC’s exciting research program and the opportunity to participate in a variety of clinical research studies, including trials of new treatments, Alzheimer’s diagnosis through brain imaging, risk factors, genetics, and prevention of Alzheimer’s disease, as well as issues pertaining to dementia caregivers.
