SLR's Strategic Affiliations

Senior Living Residences creates strategic affiliations and partnerships with other organizations and companies to broaden the services and enhance the high quality personalized care we offer our customers.

Boston University Alzheimer's Disease Center,
Boston, MA

nullOur forward-looking approach to treatment programs for Alzheimer’s care led Senior Living Residences to a formal affiliation with Boston University School of Medicine’s Alzheimer’s Disease Center (BU ADC), whose mission is to be on the cutting edge of research, clinical care and education related to memory loss. Through our affiliation, BU ADC clinicians and faculty provide continuing education and in-service professional training for Senior Living Residences’ management and caregiving staff, as well as local eldercare professional colleagues. Seminars and lectures by BU ADC educate residents and family members about memory loss, dementia, prevention, treatment and caregiving. Senior Living Residences’ residents also gain easy access to the BU ADC’s exciting research program and the opportunity to participate in a variety of clinical research studies, including trials of new treatments.

The BU School of Medicine’s Alzheimer’s Disease Center conducts clinical research into the risk factors, genetics, prevention and diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, as well as issues pertaining to dementia caregivers. BU ADC also provides clinical evaluations and treatment for individuals with memory loss and Alzheimer’s. For more information, visit www.bu.edu/alzresearch.

Beth Israel Deaconess HealthCare - Milton

Standish Village and Beth Israel Deaconess HealthCare formed an affiliation to provide proactive wellness services to residents, including on-site preventative health maintenance, access to outpatient services, and health education and promotion activities. Dr. Mary Louise Ashur of Beth Israel Deaconess HealthCare of Milton treats residents in the community and serves as a liaison between attending physicians and other healthcare professionals caring for Standish Village residents. Residents with complex medical needs who require tertiary care or specialty services unavailable at BID-Milton, gain smooth access to caregivers and services at BID Medical Center in Boston, a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, ranked as one of the Top Hospitals by US News & World Report in Geriatrics.

Medication Assessments for Residents

Senior Living Residences has partnered with Overlook CARE to provide comprehensive medication “check-up” for seniors moving into a Senior Living Residences' assisted living or Compass Memory Support community. Residents and families meet personally with an experienced clinical pharmacist who provides a thorough evaluation of each resident’s medications. A summary report identifies potential medication conflicts and related safety risks, provides personalized medication charts that families and residents can share with physicians, identifies possible medication-related issues, and suggests particular questions that families may want to pose to physicians.

Overlook C.A.R.E (Consultation, Advocacy, Resources for Elders) is a division of the Masonic Health System of Massachusetts which has been bringing a better quality of life to generations of people for almost 100 years. Overlook CARE is a group of professional Geriatric Care Managers who all hold a Master’s Degree and are Board Licensed Clinical Social Workers or Nurses. The group works with a Licensed Pharmacist to provide residents and their families with a comprehensive medication assessment. Visit www.masonichealthsystem.org for more information.

Health Care Insights, Acton, MA

nullNew research shows that we can improve brain health and possibly slow the progression of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias through lifestyle changes, especially dietary changes. Therefore, Senior Living Residences has partnered with internationally recognized Nancy Emerson Lombardo, Ph.D. of Health Care Insights to implement “The Memory Preservation Nutrition® Program” for the first time in New England assisted living. Our residents benefit from a nutrition rich in “brain foods” such as antioxidants, fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and omega-three fatty acids.

Health Care Insights is dedicated to research and educational efforts designed to improve the life and well being of persons with Alzheimer’s disease, as well as their family and professional care partners. For more information, visit www.BrainWellness.com.
